Things.
A few things I have learnt already this morning - hmmm and yesterday as well I guess.
- 2 or 3 degrees variation in temperature makes a lot of difference. 13.9 degrees (C) at 5.45 am, on a bike, feels significantly warmer than 11 degrees.
- There are pockets of warm air that you notice as you ride along. A bit like how you feel warm and cold pockets of water if you swim in a river.
- 90 kph (around 56 mph) on a bike downhill isn't just as fast as it sounds. It feels fast.. (Yep, our new max speed!)
- Getting up at 5.15 am - to ride 45km on a bike - is still Ungodly for this "I don't do mornings" girl.
- My bum gets more numb riding the road bike than the other tandem despite using the same saddle. I wonder how many saddles I might have to buy before I find one that is perfect.
- Most bike shops are only interested in selling you what they happen to have left in their showroom rather than offering you the choice of a few bikes of a similar type.
- Most car drivers still need educating about how to pass a cyclist, and also how not to pull out in front of a cyclist. Cyclists on road bikes can be moving along at around 40kph, so they will arrive in front of you a lot sooner than you think. (Marc had to shake his head at a car about to turn out of a side street onto the highway in front of us.. ie. 'No, mate, if you go now, you will collect us!')
- Tracey has no blogging standards. ie. she will sit here and blog about ANYTHING rather than do housework.

There are pockets of warm waswimming pools too. I love to find them and just stand there until the warmth goes away, then chase the kiddies until I find another one to bask in...
